Humility – A tree is known by its fruit
Prelude: Are you in Control of your Tongue? |
---|
(Matthew 12:33-37) "Either make the tree good and the fruit good, or make the tree corrupt and its fruit corrupt; for a tree is known by its fruit. Offspring of vipers, how are you able to speak good things, being evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings out good things; and the wicked man out of the wicked treasure brings out wicked things. But I say to you, for every idle word that men may speak, they shall be held accountable in the day of judgment. For by your words you shall be justified, and by your words you shall be condemned."

Is God Calling You? |

Luke 21:17 "And you shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake." Matthew 22:1-14 "For many are called, but few chosen." Luke 12:32 "Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom." Revelation 14:12 "Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus." |

(Hebrews 10:24-27) "And let us be concerned about one another, and be stirring up one another unto love and good works; Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, even as some are accustomed to do; but rather, encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the day drawing near. For if we willfully go on sinning after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice for sins, But a terrifying expectation of inevitable judgment and of fierce fire, which will devour the adversaries of God." (Hebrews 10:30-31) "For we know Him Who has said, ' "Vengeance belongs to Me. I will recompense (repay)!" says the Lord.' And again, "The Lord will judge His people." It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.' " (Galatians 5:19-21) "Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, licentiousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, strifes, jealousies, indignations, contentions, divisions, sects, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revelings, and such things as these; concerning which I am telling you beforehand, even as I have also said in the past, that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God." (Galatians 5:22-26) "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, Meekness, self-control; against such things there is no law. But those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts. If we live by the Spirit, we should also be walking by the Spirit. We should not become vain-glorious, provoking one another and envying one another." The New Life: (Ephesians 4:17-32) "So then, I declare and testify this in the Lord that you are no longer to walk even as the rest of the Gentiles are walking, in the vanity of their minds, Having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their hearts. They have cast off all feelings, and have given themselves up to licentiousness, to work every uncleanness with insatiable desire. But you have not so learned Christ; If indeed you have heard Him and have been taught in Him, according to the truth in Jesus: That concerning your former conduct, you put off the old man, which is corrupt according to deceitful lusts; And that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that you put on the new man, which according to God is created in righteousness and holiness of the truth. Therefore, let each one put away lies and speak the truth with his neighbor because we are members of one another. When you become angry, do not sin. Do not let the sun go down on your anger; Neither give place to the devil. Let the one who stole, steal no more; rather, let him labor with his hands, working at what is good, so that he may impart something to the one who has need. Do not let any corrupt communication come out of your mouth, but that which is good and needful for edification that it may give grace to those who hear. And do not vex the Holy Spirit of God by which you have been sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, and indignation, and wrath, and clamor, and evil speaking be removed from you, together with all malice; And be kind and tenderhearted toward one another, forgiving one another, even as God has also in Christ forgiven you." (Romans 3:23) "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." Philippians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I say, Rejoice! 4:5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. 4:6 Be anxious for nothing; but in everything by 4:7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Meditate on These Things 4:8 Finally, brethren, 4:9 The things, which you have both 4:10 But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me has flourished again; though you surely did care, but you lacked opportunity. 4:11 Not that I speak in regard of need: for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content. 4:12 I know both 4:13 I can do all things through Christ, Who strengthens (empowers) me. In conclusion: (Romans 12:1-3) "I exhort you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy and well pleasing to God, which is your spiritual service. Do not conform yourselves to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind in order that you may prove what is well pleasing and good, and the perfect will of God. For I say through the grace that was given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think with sound-mindedness, as God has divided to each one a measure of faith." (Matthew 6:14-15) "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." [Forgiveness of others is mandatory.] (Proverbs 6:16-19) "These six things the LORD hates; yea, seven are an abomination unto Him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that plots wicked imaginations, feet that are swift in running to evil, A false witness who speaks lies, and he who sows discord among brethren." [A sober warning to have righteous humility!]
