Hear and Obey God

The most consistent way God speaks to us today is through His word the Holy Bible (Be aware some bible versions are archaic in meaning and others are bias and pervert the true meaning of the intended message). God's word is available to teach us about who God is, and He instructs us how to live our lives daily, and to avoid practicing sin. Sincerely pray for guidance and understanding, as you meditate on His word.

Some people desire to understand scripture, but fail miserably. Joh 5:39-40, "You search the Scriptures, for in them you think that you have eternal life; and they are the ones that testify of Me. 40 But you are unwilling to come to Me, that you may have life." Sad, but true, there are people who are studying the word of God, however: 2Ti 3:7, "They are always learning but are never able to come to the knowledge of the truth." Some religious leaders fail to recognize deeper meaning in bible scripture. Prayer and meditation helps open scripture to deeper spiritual insight and understanding to help us in our relationships with God and others.

Mat 7:21, "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but the one who is doing the will of My Father, Who is in heaven." This statement does not imply that people "go to heaven" because our prayer is that God's kingdom comes (to earth) and that His will is done on earth as it is done in heaven. Mat 6:10, "Your kingdom come {to earth}; Your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven." Luk 6:46, "And why do you call Me, 'Lord, Lord,' but you do not practice what I say?" People take the name of Christ as "Christians," but neither follow His teachings, nor obey Him or His Father. Jas 2:20, "But are you willing to understand, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?" Jas 4:17, "Therefore, if anyone knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin."

God also speaks to us by the power of the Holy Spirit. Act 13:2, "And as they were ministering and fasting to the Lord, the Holy Spirit said, 'Separate both Barnabas and Saul to Me for the work to which I have called them.' " Joh 16:13, "However, when that one {the Comforter} has come, even the Spirit of the truth, it will lead you into all truth because it shall not speak from itself, but whatever it shall hear, it shall speak. And it shall disclose to you the things to come." Also knowing the word of God will enable you to inwardly know what direction and works you should be making in your daily life. Rev 14:13, "And I heard a voice from heaven say to me, 'Write: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from this time forward. Yes, says the Spirit, so that they may rest from their labors; and their works follow them.' "

Joh 10:27, "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me." As you study the written word of God, the Holy Spirit will speak to you and bring remembrance to you and enable you to express the will of God through your interaction with the Word of Truth! Mar 13:10-11, "And the gospel must first be published among all nations. 11 But whenever they lead you away and deliver you up, do not be anxious beforehand nor meditate on what you should say; but whatever shall be given to you in that hour, that speak. For you are not the ones who are speaking, but the Holy Spirit {speaks}."

God also may speak to us and others through visions and dreams: Act 2:17-18 (& Joe 2:28-29), " 'And it shall come to pass in the last days,' says God, 'that I will pour out My Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; 18 And even upon My servants and upon My handmaids will I pour out My Spirit in those days, and they shall prophesy.' " God, in these days, reveals dreams and visions to both men and women who may speak (preach) as inspired by God. The book of Daniel reveals how dreams occur and how God is able to provide their meanings. As you share your dreams with faithful sisters and brothers, you may learn that others had a very similar dream.

God also speaks to us through others who have been inspired to preach His truths or offer wisdom to guide us. However we are directed to 1Jn 4:1, "Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world." Are the words you hear validated by the correct Word of God?

Mar 7:6-9, "And He {Jesus} answered and said to them, 'Well did Isaiah prophesy concerning you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honors Me with their lips, but their hearts are far away from Me. 7 But in vain do they worship Me, teaching for doctrine the commandments of men. 8 For leaving the commandment of God, you hold fast the tradition of men, such as the washing of pots and cups; and you practice many other things like this." 9 Then He said to them, 'Full well do you reject the commandment of God, so that you may observe your own tradition.' " People claiming to be "Christians" today, reject the commandment of God concerning the Sabbath Day and keep their own tradition of "Sunday Worship" while ignoring clear scripture directing people to observe and keep the Sabbath Day Holy! This was prophesied in Isa 4:1, "And in that day seven women {churches} shall take hold of one man {Christ}, saying, 'We will eat our own bread and wear our own clothing; only let us be called by Your name. Take away our shame.' " There are people who reject the bread of life and "eat their own bread" because they do not believe! They also do not accept the clothes of righteous, and would appear inappropriately dressed at a wedding supper because of their self-righteousness" (Mat 22:11-12).

Joh 6:35-36, "Jesus said to them, 'I am the bread of life; the one who comes to Me shall never hunger; and the one who believes in Me shall never thirst at any time. 36 But as I said to you, you also have seen Me, yet you do not believe.' " Joh 6:38, "For I did not come down from heaven to do My own will, but the will of Him Who sent Me." Jesus set the example by doing the will of God, His Father. Joh 15:10, "If you keep My commandments, you shall live in My love; just as I have kept My Father's Commandments and live in His love." Jesus was sent from God and spoke in Joh 5:30, I have no power to do anything of Myself; but as I hear, I judge; and My judgment is just because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father, Who sent Me." Jesus did not alter the Ten Commandments!

If you choose to break one of the Ten Commandments, then you break all of them! Jas 2:10, "For if anyone keeps the whole law, but sins in one aspect, he becomes guilty of {breaking them} all."  We are directed in Mat 19:17, "And He {Jesus} said to him, 'Why do you call Me good? No one is good except one—God. But if you desire to enter into life, keep the {whole ten} commandments.' " The Ten Commandments paraphrased in a brief summary: 1 – I am the Lord your God. You shall have no other gods before God. 2 – Do not make any idols, nor (worship) bow down or pray to them. 3 – Do not take God's name in vain. 4 – Remember the Sabbath Day to keep (respect) it as Holy Time. 5 – Honor your father and your mother. 6 – Do not murder. 7 – Do not commit adultery. 8 – Do not steal. 9 – Do not be a false witness. 10 Do not covet (lust for something). – Exo 20:1-17 & Deu 5:1-22 Again we are reminded: 1Jn 5:21, "Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen."

Also reference these words: Isa 3:12, "As for My people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. Oh, My people, those who lead you cause you to err and destroy the way of your paths." Be aware, just because many are worshiping on Sunday, does not mean that it is a correct day to worship upon! Mat 7:13-16, "Enter in through the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction [such as Sunday worship], and many are those who enter through it; 14 For narrow the gate and difficult is the way that leads to life, and few are those who find it. 15 But beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep's clothing, for within they are ravening wolves. 16 You shall know them by their fruits. … " People lie and teach to worship on Sundays and claim to be "Christians," by taking on the name of Jesus Christ, but not obeying Him! Psa 119:29-30, "Remove from me the way of lying, and grant me Your law graciously. 30 I have chosen the way of truth; I have laid Your judgments before me."

There are times when the voice of angels (messengers) is audibly heard: Jesus said as written in Joh 12:28-30, " 'Father, glorify Your name.' Then a voice came from heaven, saying, 'I have both glorified it and will glorify it again.' 29 Then the people standing there, who heard it, said, 'It thundered.' Others said, 'An angel spoke to Him.' 30 Jesus answered and said, 'This voice did not come because of Me, but because of you.' " Some times God's word is spoken through the voice of angels. Zec 4:4-6, "And I answered and spoke to the angel who talked with me, saying, 'What are these, my lord?' 5 Then the angel who talked with me answered and said to me, 'Do you know what these are?' And I said, 'No, my lord.' 6 Then he answered and spoke to me, saying, 'This is the Word of the LORD to Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the LORD of hosts.' "

We need to be aware of the circumstances around us, because there may be a message in them for us! Often, God may speak to us through circumstances to get our attention. Are you aware of what is happening around you on a daily basis; or are you so engrossed with the current technology or entertainment at hand that you lose track of the "real world". Moses in ancient times happened to come upon a burning bush that was not being consumed. As he approached the bush; something happened! Exo 3:4-5, "And the LORD saw that he {Moses} had turned aside to see. God called to him out of the midst of the bush, and said, 'Moses! Moses!' And he said, 'Here I am.' 5 And He said, 'Do not come near here. Put off your sandals from your feet, for the place on which you stand is holy ground.' " God spoke to Moses and required Moses to take certain actions. Thus Moses heard and obeyed God. Jesus said in LUK 11:28, "…Blessed are those who HEAR the Word of God and OBEY it!"

However Jonah's response is a different story. – Jonah was given a job to do in Nineveh, but he chose to flee by ship to Tarshish from God's presence. Because of Jonah's actions circumstances changed as he was thrown overboard: "and the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights." – Jon 1:1-2, & 17. Christ said in: Mat 12:39-40, "… 'A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, but no sign shall be given to it except the sign of Jonah the prophet. 40 For just as Jonah was in the belly of the whale three days and three nights, in like manner the Son of man {Christ} shall be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights." Do you allow yourself to be deceived into believing that Jesus died on a Friday and arose on a Sunday? A sincere examination of holy scripture will reveal the truth about Jesus' death and resurrection!

Summation - You Need to Take Action

You Should Consider Baptism

Become a Ten Commandment keeper and a New Covenant Saint: Rev 14:12, "Here is the patience of the saints; here are the ones who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus." Jude tells us saints are called and set apart by God. Jud 1:1-5, "Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and brother of James, to the called saints, sanctified by God the Father and kept in Jesus Christ: 2 Mercy and peace and love be multiplied to you. 3 Beloved, when personally exerting all my diligence to write to you concerning the common salvation, I was compelled to write to you, exhorting you to fervently fight for the faith, which once for all time has been delivered to the saints. 4 For certain men have stealthily crept in, those who long ago have been written about, condemning them to this judgment. They are ungodly men, who are perverting the grace of our God, turning it into licentiousness, and are personally denying the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ. 5 But I myself want to remind you, though you once understood this, that the Lord, after saving a people out of the land of Egypt, the second time destroyed those who did not believe." Willful unbelievers ultimately receive destruction!

Addendum

Jesus said as recorded in: Joh 6:63-69, " 'It is the Spirit that gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you, they are spirit and they are life. 64 But there are some of you who do not believe.' For Jesus knew from the beginning who were the ones that did not believe, and who would betray Him. 65 And He said, 'For this reason, I have said to you, no one can come to Me unless it has been given to him from My Father.' 66 From that time, many of His disciples went back and walked no more with Him. 67 Therefore, Jesus said to the twelve, 'Are you also desiring to go away?' 68 Then Simon Peter answered Him, 'Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life; 69 And we have believed and have known that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.' "

The question is: Do you feel drawn to Jesus and do you wish to walk in the way of life? If the answer is yes, then take action which may include baptism."
