Bible Scripture About Equality
Prelude: Jesus Loves You! |
---|
God's word is very clear in telling us that all men are created equal, and every single person may become a child of God, receiving a joyous eternal life. John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, so that everyone who believes in Him may not perish, but may have everlasting life." Belief requires action and having everlasting life is conditional, as we bear fruits of repentance! We can examine Holy Scripture to learn how to love and serve everyone, no matter what their age, skin tone, ethnicity, gender, or nationality.

God made ONE RACE, called the HUMAN RACE. No physical or financial trait changes the way God sees that person, treats that person, and loves that person. God did not create a different patriarch for the different races. All peoples come from Adam, and he is the Father of the human race. Genesis 1:27, "So God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them." God created only two genders. God made a variety of tree sizes, types and colors, and the same applies to flowers, birds, animals etc. which includes humanity. He also allows some to be richer and some poorer, and again He tells us not to show favor. The 10 Commandments of God apply to all and provide the guidelines for all righteous people. Matthew 19:16-17, "…'what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?' 17 …if you desire to enter into life, keep the commandments.' " Will your name be "… written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world." ? –Revelation 13:8. A warning in Romans 12:3, "For I say through the grace that was given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think with sound-mindedness, as God has divided to each one a measure of faith." God provides His mercy and grace to all who seek Him. Psalm 91:1-2, "He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the LORD, 'He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in Whom I will trust.' " Because of sin, humans face persecutions and prejudices from their fellow man, but we can cast aside fear and take refuge in the Lord! Psalm 27:1, "The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?" The LORD is a loving and righteous God: Deuteronomy 10:17, "For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, the mighty and awesome God, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes." Acts 10:34-35, "Then Peter began to speak: 'I now truly understand that God does not show favoritism, 35 but welcomes those from every nation who fear {revere} Him and do what is right.' " Jesus death has destroyed the barrier removing the wall of hostility: Ephesians 2:14, "For Christ himself has brought us peace by making Jews and Gentiles one people. With His own body, He broke down the wall that separated them and kept them enemies." Jesus is a good Shepherd and knows His sheep and they know Him. John 10:16, "And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring those also, and they shall hear My voice; and there shall be one flock and one Shepherd." The old covenant saints will become united with the new covenant saints in the future. 1 John 2:2, "He Himself is the atoning sacrifice {propitiation} for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world." Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Holy Scripture directs us on how to have proper conduct and relationships with others. Hebrews 12:14, "Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord." John 13:34, "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you also must love one another." Philippians 2:3, "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or empty pride. Rather, in humility consider others more important than yourselves." Ephesians 5:21, "Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ." James 2:8-9, "If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, 'Love your neighbor as yourself,' you are doing right. 9 But if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as lawbreakers." Leviticus 19:33-34, "When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. 34 The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the LORD your God." Caution, partiality is sin: James 2:1-4, "My brothers and sisters, believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ must not show favoritism. 2 Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in filthy old clothes also comes in. 3 If you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say, 'Here's a good seat for you,' but say to the poor man, 'You stand there' or 'Sit on the floor by my feet,' 4 have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?" Luke 14:13-14, "But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, 14 and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous." Proverbs 22:2, "Rich and poor have this in common: The LORD is the Maker of them all." God did not create women to be subordinate to men. However, the Bible is not silent on the inequality that people believe exists. Galatians 3:26-29, "So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, 27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise." 2 Corinthians 6:18, " 'And I shall be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters,' says the Lord Almighty." 1 Corinthians 12:1, "Now brethren, I do not wish you to be ignorant concerning the spiritual gifts." 1 Corinthians 12:18, "But now has God Himself placed each one of the members in the body according to His own will." 1 Corinthians 14:1, "Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy." Jesus criticized those who practice discrimination and judgment based on outward appearances. Jesus is our perfect example of a righteous man who welcomed sinners with open, loving arms and directed sinners to go and sin no more. When the scribes and the Pharisees brought to Jesus a woman who had been taken in adultery. Jesus wrote on the dust with His finger and the accusers "John 8:9-11, "…were convicted each by his own conscience, and went out one by one, beginning with the older ones until the last. And Jesus was left alone, with the woman standing in the center. 10 And when Jesus lifted Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, 'Woman, where are your accusers? Did anyone condemn you?' 11 And she said, 'No one, Lord.' And Jesus said to her, 'Neither do I condemn you. Go, and sin no more.' " 1 Timothy 6:17-19, "Charge those who are rich in this present age not to be high minded, nor to put their hope in the uncertainty of riches; but to put their hope in the living God, Who abundantly gives us all things for our enjoyment; 18 To do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous in giving, to be ready to share; 19 Treasuring up for themselves a good foundation for the future, so that they may lay hold on eternal life."

Colossians 3:9-15, "Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old man together with his deeds, 10 And have put on the new man, who is being renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him Who created him; 11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, barbarian nor Scythian, slave nor free; but Christ is all things, and in all. 12 Put on then, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, deep inner affections, kindness, humility, meekness and longsuffering; 13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so also you should forgive. 14 And above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which you were called into one body, and be thankful."
